The KUJmf Society has bought a couple of hundred meters of genuine KUJ rails from Mr Astley Nyhlén in Uttersberg. Now the rails has been moved to an enclosed area in Köping. Photo: Karl-Åke Nordebring
The deal also included an amount of sleepers here seen loaded on the forward part of the equipage. Photo: Karl-Åke Nordebring
The transport was handled by a local timber truck driver who skillfully loaded both steel and wood on his truck. Photo: Karl-Åke Nordebring
The former station area in Uttersberg is a lovely and well-preserved environment but the old engine shed is gone since the 1970s (pictures from the demolition can be found further down). Thanks to Mr Stig Hedlund we can now show a picture of it from the good old days.
It shows the pump operator, later to be the polisher Per Adolf Hedlund with family (among them the future engine-driver Arvid to the left) outside their home in the western part of the engine shed around the year 1906 together with an unknown family. Photo: unknown

Pictures from the KUJmf Working Day of April 12 2008
Click on the pictures for larger size.
This spring working day brought both happy reunions and new pleasant acquaintances. It's important to have fun and railbikeriding is very funny! Maria and Claes Berglund go for a ride watched by Olle Karlsson and Anders Nordebring. Photo: Bernt R Jansson
We have a beautiful old inspection trolley that has to be moved. Claes Berglund, Anders Nordebring, Bernt R Jansson och Gert Persson try to work out where to move it. Photo: Maria Berglund
The solution: a new track! Two old u-rails are used for a new siding. Photo: Maria Berglund
Then Olle Karlsson, Fredrik Lundström, Daniel Lans, Claes Berglund and Anders Nordebring lift the very old inspection trolley upon the very old rails. Photo: Bernt R Jansson
In our engine shed there's plenty of wood in different forms. These are tripods for boards we use for temporary exhibitions, so let's keep them. Photo: Maria Berglund
The lovely Uttersberg trolley is used for mobile storage of the tripods. Photo: Maria Berglund
Not every little bit of wood is to be kept. Olle Karlsson knows what's what and he cleans up around the steam engine. Photo: Anders Nordebring
Redundant wood is transformed into firewood of suitable size by Fredrik Lundström and Staffan Jacobsson. Photo: Anders Nordebring
Firewood? Nonono, it's a leg to a passenger seat. Keep it! Photo: Maria Berglund
There's no risk that the old water pump becomes firewood... Photo: Bernt R Jansson
To his obvious delight Karl-Åke Nordebring finds a pair of curtains from a passenger coach, possibly from the second class compartment of the KUJ BC 9. Photo: Bernt R Jansson
Some lockers were in dire need of cleaning. Gert Persson and Helena Johansson takes care of that. Photo: Bernt R Jansson
But what is that beneath the old bogie? Photo: Maria Berglund
It turns out to be some sort of old compressed air cylindre. Photo: Maria Berglund
It is important that everyone can see where the fire extinguisher is among all wood. Helena Johansson and Fredrik Lundström put up the sign. Photo: Anders Nordebring
The archive also needs to be put in order. Arne Bryngelsson is taking care of this. Photo: Bernt R Jansson
Sometimes the photographer gets caught on a picture. The public relations representative of the KUJmf Society, Mr Bernt R Jansson, is figuring out the next motive. Photo: Maria Berglund

After a long working day it is good to have an excellent restaurant in the same house as our club premises. Hungry participants gets fed at the Athos Kök & Bar. Photo: Maria Berglund

Pictures from the KUJmf Working Day of October 13 2007

The grand working day of the autumn drew new participants, like here Maria and Claes Berglund from Björneborg in Värmland. Besides being a very pleasant acquaintance they made a significant contribution to the renovation of the second class compartment in the passenger coach KUJ BC 9. The plaster putty didn't stand a chance, it looked like a blizzard in the compartment! A heartfelt thank you and welcome back! Photo: Bernt R Jansson
The KUJmf secretary is here check weighing a bucket of scrap metal. It's almost 110 lbs! No wonder he looks a bit strained... Photo: Bernt R Jansson
It looks like a ridiculously light load, but it's actually over one ton of scrap metal on the trailer. In the background from the left: the secretary, Mr Olle Karlsson, the KUJmf chairman Mr Anders Nordebring and Mr Karl-Åke Nordebring. Photo: Bernt R Jansson
Some other stuff was to be put under roof in one of the beautiful harbour warehouses, by the permission of the municipality of Köping. The KUJmf chairman couldn't resist the temptation of using railbike for the transport. So in this minor scale goods trains are once more rolling on the KUJ railway. Photo: Bernt R Jansson

Pictures from the KUJmf summer of 2007

During the summer KUJmf have been open to visits on six sundays. We who worked during these want to thank our nice visitors and pity the rest who missed us. Photo: Anders Nordebring
The KUJmf Society participated with a sales table at the Riddarhytte Fair. Mr Bernt R Jansson and Mr Olle Karlsson are working out how to put the table together. Photo: Anders Nordebring
The highlight of this summer was for KUJmf the deposition of the diesel engine NKlJ 4, former SJ Z4tu 316 from Hagfors Industry and Railway Museum to us. Here the deposition agreement is signed by the KUJmf chairman, Mr Anders Nordebring, to the left and the Hagfors representative, Mr Lars Nilsson, to the right. More information about this can be found here. Photo: Bernt R Jansson
A picture of the diesel engine concerned, from where it stands today in the Hagfors engine shed. Observe the welding repair of the right side done after a collision. This diesel engine will be handsome indeed in its brown SJ-livery as the SJ Z4tu 316, but these NKlJ-colours are quite nice too. Photo: Anders Nordebring
Another view of this treasure. Observe the NKlJ emblem of cast letters, some missing. Photo: Anders Nordebring
This is high-tech compared to our steam engine! Photo: Anders Nordebring
We are so proud of this diesel engine that we must show some more pictures of it. The similarity to the other pictures comes out of restricted camera angles in the dark engine shed. Photo: Anders Nordebring
Here the underside of the NKlJ 4 can be seen. We will re-re-gauge this to 1093 mm! Photo: Anders Nordebring
The KUJmf Society have also acquired the lamp signal from the former railway station of Uttersberg. Now all that's needed are some electric cords and lamps... Photo: Anders Nordebring
The lamp signal of Uttersberg was taken to Köping by Anders and Karl-Åke Nordebring. Observe the massive pole: luckily the inhabitants of Riddarhyttan like Karl-Åke on the picture have iron ore in their muscles! Photo: Anders Nordebring
Another acquisition is the former station trolley of Uttersberg, deposited with KUJmf by the owner Mr Astley Nyhlén. A proper size for an object of renovation! Photo: Anders Nordebring
The former railway station building of Uttersberg is worth a visit today. The current owner Mr Astley Nyhlén has restored the exterior to an appearance close to the original one. Here the building is seen from the former track area. Photo: Bernt R Jansson
The public convenience of Uttersberg remains in good outer shape. Photo: Bernt R Jansson
As can be seen here, the platform is still in place in front of the station building. This beautiful summer picture is an appropriate end of this KUJmf summer exposition. Photo: Bernt R Jansson

Pictures from the KUJmf Working Day of April 28 2007
Click on the pictures for larger size.
Alongside the engine shed there was a mess of scrap metal lying around, and one task during the working day was to sort this out. Photo: Anders Nordebring
At the end of the working day it did look much more tidy, and some of the scrap metal was found to be of no use to KUJmf. Photo: Anders Nordebring
Another task was to continue loosening the boiler from the steam engine KUJ 7 Patric Reuterswärd before the planned welding repair of the copper firebox. Photo: Anders Nordebring
The renovation of the passenger coach KUJ BC 9 has been restarted during the working day. The first task was to remove the plaster putty from the walls and ceiling of the former second class compartment. Photo: Anders Nordebring
Yet another important task of a working day is taking care of the archive material. KUJmf has bought a laminating machine in order to make eg. press cuttings more impervious to the ravishings of time. Photo: Anders Nordebring
The archive of KUJmf is extensive and comprehensive, and laminating the press cuttings made it even more bulky. Photo: Anders Nordebring

Pictures from the KUJmf annual meeting excursion March 31 2007
Click on the pictures for larger size.
This year's annual meeting excursion went along the former KURJ railway to the Forshammar feldspar mine and then to Riddarhyttan for the meeting. First stop was at the lengthman's cottage Oxbron, where the participants could admire the former railway bridge and the beautiful views. Photo: Anders Nordebring
Next stop was the former railway station Krampen where a KURJ branch line connected to the Swedish State Railways (SJ). Today no trains stop here and there's only an old wash-house still standing. Photo: Anders Nordebring
At the Forshammar feldspar mine the first thing we saw was this: the old open-cast mine filled with what looked very much like milk. Photo: Anders Nordebring
The participants of the excursion got a guided tour around the feldspar mine area. Photo: Anders Nordebring
The old and closed stone mill of 1927 was visited, a fantastic tall wooden building with all machinery still inside to be seen through a labyrinth of stairs. Photo: Anders Nordebring
Everything inside the stone mill was covered by a fine layer of white feldspar dust. Photo: Anders Nordebring
After the stone mill visit it was time to board the bus again going... Photo: Anders Nordebring
... to the new open-cast mine Limbergsbrottet where North Cape Minerals is mining feldspar today. Photo: Anders Nordebring
After being shown the new mine the excursion was over and it was time to go the KUJmf annual meeting in Riddarhyttan. Photo: Anders Nordebring
After arrival to Riddarhyttan a delicious and needed sandwich was enjoyed together with coffee, and after this the annual meeting began in the former engine shed, nowadays the café Lokstallet 1093. The chairman of the meeting, Mr Kjell-Åke Leijon, upheld order and speed while the secretary of the meeting, Mr Daniel Lans, had trouble keeping up while writing the protocoll. Photo: Karl-Åke Nordebring
The vice chairman Mr Arne Bryngelsson reported about the financial situation and about the proposal of the nominating committe. Those present seemed well pleased with both. Photo: Karl-Åke Nordebring

The first thing to be done was to move our steam engine KUJ 7 Patric Reuterswärd by manual labour. This included from left to right Daniel Lans, Fredrik Lundström, Olle Karlsson and Karl-Åke Nordebring. These brave men discovered that the track out of the engine shed is sloping upwards... phew! Photo: Anders Nordebring
Olle Karlsson and Torbjörn Hultberg with a couple of axles, two of 1093 mm gauge from the remaining KUJ Co1 13 bogie, and two of 3'6" gauge for future use when the remains of another KUJ coach cease being used as a summer cabin. Photo: Anders Nordebring
The passenger coach KUJ BC 9 also got to see some daylight. It was much easier to move than Patric was! Photo: Anders Nordebring
The latest addition to the Society: a 1093 mm gauge trolley from Kolsva foundry, previously for transporting ingot steel. The trolley has ball bearings, which can be seen on the left axle where the lid over the bearing is missing. Photo: Anders Nordebring
The pride and joy over this new acquisition is grand enough to warrant another picture. Photo: Anders Nordebring
With the steam engine Patric and the passenger coach Niner rolled out there was room for moving about and cleaning the inner sanctum of the engine shed. Photo: Anders Nordebring
One of the Co1 13 bogie axles is getting a brush-up by Fredrik Lundström and Torbjörn Hultberg before placing the bogie frame on them. Photo: Anders Nordebring
Karl-Åke Nordebring brought a more efficient tool and quickly removed rust and grime from the other Co1 13 axle. Photo: Anders Nordebring
The Kolsva trolley must be lifted to be transported to the other side of the engine shed for a roll-in. Fredrik Lundström is supervising the process. Photo: Anders Nordebring

The Kolsva trolley are now almost there, at the northern engine shed track. Photo: Anders Nordebring
The Kolsva trolly is lowered upon the northern engine shed track, and later brushed off before rolling inside the engine shed. Photo: Anders Nordebring
Believe it or not, we did get other things done as well! Daniel Lans and Karl-Åke Nordebring are painting the inside of the engine shed doors. Photo: Anders Nordebring
The bogie frame of the Atlas-built passenger coach has been under a tarpaulin outside the engine shed for several years. During the Working Day it was uncovered in order to be reunited with its wheels and rolled inside. The 113 years old frame is made of oak. Photo: Anders Nordebring
The hired help came to good use lifting the axles in order to get them in proper order. Photo: Anders Nordebring
After that the bogie frame of KUJ Co1 13 is lowered upon its axles to be rolled inside the engine shed later. This means that KUJmf has managed to get all of its rolling stock indoors! Photo: Anders Nordebring
